inferred gene-disease associations

Using concept profiles to mine biomedical literature, we identified 1.8 million statistically significant implied associations between genes and diseases, the vast majority of which have yet to be explicitly stated. These results demonstrate that new knowledge can be extracted from networks of implied information in existing corpora and point to an enormous untapped potential in the implied information of scientific literature for biomedical discovery.
